Note from Pastor for Administration

Praise God from whom all blessings flow! Despite the unwelcome—and seemingly unending—pandemic, Pioneer's 2020 Financial Report clearly shows that God is still on the throne. Praise His name!

A big "thank you" to all of you for how much and all that you give in these uncertain times. We are grateful to the God who has led all of you to continue to give of yourself, your time, and your means—faithfully and joyfully, with passion and dedication. We cherish your commitment and support.

Thank You From the Family of Leo Christensen

Leo Christensen passed to his rest on January 21st, 2021. The family wishes to thank those who visited him at Old Farm Living before the pandemic. He appreciated those visits. A private interment will be held for Leo later. The family requests that
donations in his memory be directed to Maplewood Academy, Hutchinson Minnesota for either their outdoor basketball court project or the worthy student fund. We await the blessed hope of the Second Coming of Jesus.

What Would You Do? Readers Respond

While today is Inauguration Day when America’s political transference of executive power shifts from one administration to the next—and I know we all are praying for a safe and orderly transition—I do believe the day will carry on quite well without my opining over it in this blog. Instead, I would like to recognize readers’ responses to last week’s blog, “What Would You Do?” More specifically, how can the community of Christ, the church in fact, effectively respond to the multi-faceted needs of the homeless in our communities across this land?

What Would You Do?

The more I think about it, the more I’m concluding the operative question isn’t—What would you do?—but rather—What would Jesus do?

For a few moments let’s leave the trials and tribulations of our nation and its government behind. After all, life much closer to home can be complicated enough, have you noticed?

Unbelievable!

That’s the word a friend texted me as the tragic turn of events in our nation’s capitol building unfolded on live television. What is there to say that hasn’t been said? Our hearts break for this land we love—no matter who we are or how we voted.

Turns out NPR’s observation we are facing a dark winter, is truer than first thought. Yes, of course, the darkness that has spread over this land because of the still raging COVID-19 pandemic is terrible. Now add to it our hearts freshly broken—what is there to say that hasn’t been said?

Paul Petersen Presents Short Videos About Isaiah

The biblical book Isaiah will be the focus of a worldwide Sabbath School study by Seventh-day Adventists in the first quarter of 2021. Isaiah is often called the Gospel Prophet. Dr. Paul Petersen, former chair of the Religion and Biblical Languages Department and professor of the Hebrew Bible at Andrews University, will week by week introduce the chapters covered. Chapter 1 is the introduction to the whole book.
