Nursery & Beginners

Welcome Young Families

Help your baby discover Jesus' joy through 30 minutes of infant-appropriate learning and 30 minutes of parent-led discipling each week in Nursery Sabbath School. Toddlers, aged 19 months to 3 years, will look forward to an hour of engaging learning each week in one of three incremental Beginners Sabbath Schools.  A parent or guardian participates with their child, and there's time for building friendships with other young families.

Enrolling online is recommended, but you can also do so at the Welcome Center on the lower level when you first attend.

Nursery & Beginner Lesson Resources

A parent participates with their child, and there's time for building friendships with other young families.

  • Nursery (Birth to 18 Months) repeats the same 30-minute baby program for a quarter, with the second 30 minutes as parent discipleship time. The Baby Steps family resources, part of the Adventist Alive in Jesus curriculum, are recommended for parents and are available online for free.
  • Beginner 1 (18 to 26 Months) repeats the same 50-minute program for a quarter, focusing on one Alive in Jesus Beginner lesson per month for these tiny tots. Parents are encouraged to read the short stories and do the additional learning activities in the family guide at home each week. By the age of two, a new lesson might be introduced at home each week.
  • Beginner 2 (27 to 36 Months) varies a themed hour of Sabbath school, built around the Alive in Jesus Beginner lesson for that Sabbath, appropriately adjusted for 2-year-olds.  Parents are encouraged to read the lesson and enjoy the additional learning activities in the family guide at home each week.
  • Beginner 3 (3 Year Olds) meets in the Kindergarten hall on the lower level and builds their program around the full Alive in Jesus Beginner curriculum. These toddlers are ready to enjoy all the learning activities in the family guide, including all the songs also freely available with the lessons online.
  • It's easy to give an offering online or in person. Thanks for including the world mission and expense offering for your child's division.

How to Check In

As we value the safety of all, all adults and children entering Sabbath School halls check in and wear name tags. There are two ways to check in, once enrolled as a member, visitor, or children's ministry volunteer:

  • On your mobile phone, text 'CHECK' to 269-281-2345 from 9 am on Saturdays. Click in the box for each family member wishing to attend. Click 'Submit' once, then pick up the tags as you enter the lower-level Welcome Center.
  • At a kiosk in the Welcome Center, enter your family name, then select the family members attending. Click 'Submit' and wait for the tags to print.

How to Volunteer

Our church family disciples kids together. It takes a village to raise spiritual champions; at Pioneer, our children are blessed with diverse models of Christ-followers discipling one another.  Parents and others who love Jesus and have a clear background check are invited to join one of our dynamic Sabbath School teams. Volunteer. Belong. Grow.
