Reflections on Redemption: A Call to See Beneath the Surface

A good idea is worth making your own. Years ago, I saw an image similar to the one in this post and thought I should create my own. Upon seeing it, I immediately thought of this famous verse. “And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.”(Revelation 13:8 KJV)

God Provides

To me, one of the most surprising things in the news recently was that an American had been chosen to be the next Pope. I thought about it, and it struck me that in the light of prophecy, it may be that a logical thing. Revelation 13 describes two world powers: one from the sea and the other from dry land. Seventh-day Adventists have long understood these powers as being the Roman Church (the sea beast) and the United States (the land beast). According to chapter 13, the land beast is going to cause the entire world to form an image of the sea beast.

Our New Vision at Harbor of Hope

At Harbor of Hope, we exist to empower youth to rise and lead through Christ, but we recognize that sometimes the church can seem perfect, and it can be daunting to approach, let alone be involved in the church, as a young person. The fear of failure and challenging the church culture can permeate the subconscious and make us feel frozen, incapable, and often powerless to be active participants in the church family, and for good reason.

Mission and Strategy Statements Town Hall Meetings

The Elders have finished! After many months of prayerful and concerted work, the draft of Pioneer's potential new mission and strategy statements are ready for your review.

Please join us at any of the identical Town Hall/Q & A sessions listed below to hear Pastor Shane and our elders present the drafts for your feedback.  Our goal is to take your input, modify the drafts as needed, sent them back to the church board for final review, and begin implementation in the Fall.

Widow and Widowers Bird Watching Brunch

We are inviting all widows and widowers to join us for a nature walk at 9:00 AM, June 1, at the home of Dave and Terri Village. We will also be having a vegetarian potluck and a birdwatching presentation with boat rides to follow. We hope to see you there!
